The Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Mission Engineer who is eager to take on the exciting challenge of developing and integrating AIRMO mission components together. You will be responsible for the constellation design, development, and integration of payload and satellite modules while taking into consideration the customer requirements and the mission success. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of engineers and collaborate with other stakeholders within the company. Your responsibilities in AIRMO
You will be the leader of a small satellite-based mission, from its very conception to its eventual deployment as a constellation. You will define the requirements, develop the payload architecture and shape the concept of operations, while ensuring that the requirements of all stakeholders are met. You will leverage orbital modelling and budget allocation to maximise the value of the AIRMO service. Moreover, you will select the appropriate satellite modules, devise the necessary regimes and make critical decisions about launch opportunities to ensure the successful launch and operation of AIRMO. You will be developing a system level projection of AIRMO service through selection of satellite modules, setting up regimes and making decisions about launch opportunities. Your decisions will enable AIRMO’s successful launch and operations. Your tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Work hand in hand with our CEO and co-lead the mixed engineering core team towards the emission monitoring service
- Coordinate and accelerate the development of important payload functions
- Run mission design, analysis and constellation deployment
- Think big about how space can assist the development of climate solutions
- Implement the newest engineering methodologies, prototyping, manufacturing and testing techniques
What you should bring to AIRMO
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in system modelling and systems analysis, systems architecture design
- Orbital mechanics knowledge
- Hands-on, can-do attitude, with great interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively lead and manage the collaboration across many technical teams
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic and fast-pacing environment
- Excellent communication skills and decisive decision-making skills
- Proven track record of successful satellite missions and the “end-to-end” space experience, from order to launch
- Deep understanding of satellite platforms on system level
- Team leadership skills
Requirements
The minimum requirements for applicants include:
- Degree in Aerospace Engineering or similar
- 3 - 5 years of relevant engineering experience
- Strong fundamental understanding of aerospace, small satellite sector
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Enthusiasm to learn about the NewSpace or Climate tech
Nice to have
- Knowledge of Kerbal Space Program
- Good understanding of electronics
