ABOUT THE ROLE

Creem is a Merchant of Record for software businesses. We sit between our customers and their buyers — handling payments, subscriptions, refunds, chargebacks, sales tax, and VAT so they don't have to. That means all of that runs through our books.

You'll own the day-to-day accounting: journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, AP/AR, tax filings, and the financial reporting that goes straight to investors and leadership. The specifics of MoR accounting make this interesting — subscription billing cycles, refund and chargeback flows, reverse invoicing, merchant payouts, revenue recognition across jurisdictions, VAT/GST obligations in dozens of markets, and reconciling it all across multiple payment providers and bank accounts in different currencies.

You'll be the first internal finance hire — today the function is the CFO plus an external accounting firm in Tallinn. You report directly to the CFO, no layers. Together you'll handle financial audits, investor reporting, and the decisions that shape how the company scales. We're a small team right now and plan to double or triple in the next 12–18 months — so you're joining at the stage where you actually help build how things work, not just follow what someone else set up. You'll have a strong voice in designing the financial infrastructure: the processes, the tools, the reporting. What you build now is what scales with the company.

Tallinn-based, in-office most days with flexibility when you need it.

WHAT WE VALUE

  • Payments know-how: You've worked somewhere where money moves in complicated ways — multiple providers, multiple currencies, chargebacks, refunds, payouts. You understand what it takes to keep the books clean at volume.

  • Ownership: Month-end lands on time because you made it happen. Problems get flagged and fixed before anyone has to ask.

  • Builder mentality: You'd rather build a process that works at 10x volume than keep patching the one that barely works now. This is the stage where you shape how things are done.

  • Precision: The numbers need to be right — for audits, for investors, for tax filings. You don't cut corners on accuracy.

  • Estonian context: You know how to run international business through an Estonian entity — the reporting, the tax logic, the compliance landscape. No learning curve needed.

  • Curious about tooling: We use AI-powered tools and agentic workflows to stay ahead of growing volume. You don't need to be technical, but you should be genuinely interested in using new tools to get better at your job.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent). 5+ years in accounting roles, with meaningful time in a high-growth tech company operating internationally — ideally one where you dealt with real transaction volume, multi-entity structures, and cross-border complexity.

  • Full-cycle accounting hands-on: journal entries, bank recs, month-end/year-end close, financial statement preparation.

  • Experience with subscription/recurring billing accounting and the revenue recognition nuances that come with it.

  • EU VAT experience required. Familiarity with US sales tax or other international tax regimes is a plus.

  • Comfortable with modern accounting software and advanced spreadsheets. SQL is a bonus.

  • Strong English — you'll work directly with leadership, external accountants, tax advisors, and banking partners.
