The power grid is changing faster than the software running it. Renewables are flooding supply, prices swing wildly, and millions of EV batteries sit idle on driveways every night, completely disconnected from the markets that need them most. Enkel is the platform that closes that gap. We integrate directly with energy markets and connect distributed EV assets to the grid in real time - turning idle batteries into a network. For consumers, that means lower bills and earnings from their car. For grid operators, it means distributed flexibility at scale, without building a single new power plant. We are a team with deep roots in energy markets, software, engineering and mathematics. Based in Copenhagen, we are building the connection between consumers and the grid: a layer that every stakeholder in the energy transition needs.

We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer, who thinks in packet flow, connection lifecycle, backpressure, and failure modes – and builds accordingly.

You have deep experience with mission-critical, low-latency distributed systems. You work in Go and Rust, reach for Python when it's pragmatic, and are fluent in Linux, networking, protocols, and runtime behavior. You manage your own infrastructure, including PostgreSQL and TimescaleDB, because you would rather understand what is underneath than depend on a managed service you cannot control. You build systems that are locally durable, self-healing, and simple enough to reason about under pressure.

You care about performance at the level of detail, not just "it works." – and you take real ownership of what you ship.

What You Will Do

  • Design and build the distributed systems infrastructure connecting real-world EV chargers and energy assets to live power markets
  • Build resilient, low-latency backend systems for edge-connected hardware operating under real-world constraints
  • Own observability, testing, automation, and operational reliability across the stack
  • Work closely with the optimisation team, ensuring their models run on infrastructure they can trust
  • Scale systems that must stay fast and correct as the asset network grows by orders of magnitude

What We Offer

  • A mission worth showing up for – and a company with the traction to prove it is working
  • Real ownership from day one, alongside a high-calibre highly technical team that values clear thinking, fast execution, and big ambition
  • Fast pace and decision-making speed, without sacrificing engineering rigour
  • Competitive compensation
  • Relocation support for exceptional candidates

We know great candidates come from many different paths and encourage applications from all backgrounds. Even if you don't meet every requirement, if you are excited about building the future of energy, we are excited to hear from you!
