At Fidari, we’re creating life changing health tech for the oncology ecosystem by supporting cancer patients through the cancer journey from diagnosis through survivorship. We will be working closely with clinical care teams, life science organizations, and supporting solutions like mental health, rehabilitation and nutritional services to create life changing solutions for cancer patients, survivors and their caregivers. Our mission is led by compassion to create the best experience for the patient during and after their treatment. We are creating innovative solutions to gather data around the patient that is changing the oncology landscape through advanced tech solutions.

We’re seeking a profound senior software engineer that holds excellence and compassion at the forefront of their work. Our core engineering team is curious, driven, and innovative—all holding the ability to continuously learn and expand on current technologies. Every team member will have an immediate impact on Fidari and on the health tech space.

Requirements

  • Capable of continuous learning, expanding on ideas, and willing to tackle the most difficult problems. You have a drive to continuous research on current and future technologies as a hobby and in practice
  • Willing to work autonomously while in collaboration with the lead engineer and core team. This is in the form of ownership of a component of a solution that will have an excellent impact on the overall Fidari tech
  • Produce great code that can be adopted by any engineering team, help guide team members and implement code that isn't up to standards
  • Capable of lead a team of junior engineers while working well with product management to understand required solutions
  • Continue our team’s culture of respect, inclusivity, care, and kindness while bringing respectable perspective and thoughts to a conversation. We all lead with a gentle step and are capable of communicating respectfully to our peers

The role

  • 3+ years of experience as a high-level engineer
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Built and maintained large infrastructure with security in mind, scale isn’t just a term but a reality
  • We love data and you love data
  • Strong knowledge in JavaScript and TypeScript, with working knowledge of SQL and GraphQL—excited to learn a new language functionally for implementation
  • Have worked in cloud solutions (AWS, GCP, Vercel… etc.)—bonus if prior experience with Python and ML solutions
  • Like automation because we do. i.e. CI/CD, testing, logging, alerts
  • Always keeping patients’ privacy as the north star—ability to manage the security and integrity of data and infrastructure
  • Need to be a great team member that shows up and leads by example and with care, can take a discussion and create a solution within a reasonable time that is ready
  • Be curious, love researching, not afraid to take on a task that is a challenging in timeline and in reality
  • Bonus if experienced leading team members
  • Bonus having an advanced education in bioscience, bioinformatics, or similar
  • This is hybrid with on-sites in Detroit, Michigan—plus we require a full background check

What’s the day in the life

  • Mentor and guide your team to excellence—we are hiring with intention and we will lead with intention
  • Daily stand ups with the engineering team, lead with accomplishments and transition into personal task lists and then into listening to other engineers’ tasks—communicating any feedback and organizational thoughts
  • Work with the lead engineer on current solutions and planning between patient solutions and life sciences
  • Solution building along with PR reviews and conversations around code quality and implementations
  • As needed QA checks on current solutions, including current infrastructures
  • Occasionally, we will have required pager duty on weekends to maintain uptime for our patients and our partners
  • We have a hybrid office experience—work from home is great and, also, we will have office days throughout the month—we believe in-person human interaction is very important to the team
