About the role

We're looking for an experienced contractor to lead product discovery, definition, and delivery for a suite of financial intelligence tools. You'll bridge the gap between our engineering team and our core users — finance professionals across M&A, restructuring, and audit — translating complex due diligence workflows into intuitive, scalable product experiences. This is a hands-on IC role: you'll own the roadmap, write specs, and drive execution from day one.

What you'll do

Own and maintain the product roadmap, prioritising features against commercial and user impact with clear rationale grounded in financial domain knowledge.

Conduct discovery with finance practitioners (FDD analysts, corp finance teams, deal advisors) to surface unmet needs and validate solutions rapidly.

Write detailed, unambiguous PRDs and user stories that engineering can ship without constant hand-holding — accounting for data models, financial calculations, and edge cases native to transactions work.

Translate FDD and corporate finance processes (quality of earnings, normalised EBITDA, working capital analysis, debt schedules) into structured product requirements.

Define and track success metrics; run structured experiments and use data to inform prioritisation decisions.

Act as the connective tissue between commercial, engineering, design, and senior stakeholders — keeping everyone aligned and unblocked.

Required background

3+ years in corporate finance, FDD, transaction services, or M&A advisory (Big 4 / boutique)

Demonstrable product experience — you've owned a roadmap, shipped features, and worked directly with engineers

Deep fluency in FDD outputs: QoE, NWC analysis, debt/debt-like items, EBITDA bridges

Comfortable navigating ambiguity and moving fast without a full team around you

Strong written communication — you write specs that don't generate follow-up questions

Nice to have

Experience at a fintech, data, or analytics SaaS company

ACA / ACCA / CFA qualified or part-qualified

Familiarity with SQL or data tooling (not mandatory, but useful when digging into product analytics)

Prior contracting experience — self-sufficient, no hand-holding on onboarding

Exposure to private equity, restructuring, or credit workflows
