Your mission

You’ll be the person who makes sure Klimate’s numbers are accurate, on time and a reliable source of truth. As our Finance Manager, you’ll own the books, the close and the reporting, as well as the data behind them. You’ll make sure what goes into our finance reports is correct, traceable and something leadership can rely on.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys both finance and data. The foundation is finance: closing the books, reconciling balances and working with our external bookkeepers and auditors. Alongside that, you’ll use SQL, BI and automation, including AI, to validate data across systems, remove manual steps and improve how finance and operations work together. If you like figuring things out and building the solution yourself, there’s a lot of room to do that here.

Finance at Klimate is closely tied to the business. Every contract, credit delivery and supplier payment shows up in the numbers, so you’ll get a front-row view of how the company actually runs. You’ll work side by side with our CFO on strategic matters, while still rolling up your sleeves to get the foundations right. You’ll have a big impact on how we scale.

About Klimate

At Klimate, we enable companies pursuing real climate action to take responsibility for the emissions they can’t avoid. The world talks a lot about net-zero, but most companies struggle to know what to do once reductions are no longer enough. That’s where we come in. We are a science-led business with real experts guiding companies through the world of carbon removal and how they can safely invest in taking CO₂ out of the atmosphere. Our solution combines expertise, guidance and software to help companies understand what’s real, what works, what it costs, and how to do it credibly.

Founded in 2020, we are a tight-knit team of around 20 people from a great variety of nationalities united by a passion for scaling solutions to the climate crisis. We move quickly when it matters and focus on sharing ownership along the way. Besides working in teams we enable that ownership in squads making it possible for all employees to lead areas, they are passionate about. We value deep collaboration and working side-by-side in our central Copenhagen office, from where we support leading clients including Implement Consulting, Nykredit, Copenhagen Airport and many others.

What you'll do

In your first 3–6 months: keep the numbers right and make the data trustworthy

  • Learn Klimate’s commercial and accounting flows from contracts and allocation through invoicing, payments, credit delivery, revenue recognition and balance-sheet treatment.
  • Own the month-end and year-end close from start to finish. You’ll work with our external bookkeeper and make sure the final numbers are right, keep payables and receivables on track, follow up on late payments, and support the annual audit.
  • Be the quality gate for our external bookkeepers. Give them the right input, check their output, and make sure what reaches the CFO is correct.
  • Deliver practical improvements to priority finance/data flows and reporting processes, reducing manual hand-offs and reconciliation where possible. This includes establishing a documented discrepancy-management process.
  • Spot the first manual, error-prone steps in our workflows and start fixing them.
  • Support with operational and ad hoc tasks that keep the business running smoothly.
  • From there: build what’s missing and give management the full picture

  • Build the dashboards and overviews leadership uses to steer the company, from cash and margins to carbon-credit stock.
  • Collaborate closely with the CFO on management reporting. Support budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning.
  • Decide how new deal types, supplier agreements and carbon-credit purchases should be handled in our accounting, and make sure the treatment holds up at audit.
  • Set up and continuously improve our finance processes, systems and controls. Automate wherever it makes sense, using whatever tools fit, AI included.
  • Own reliable, traceable datasets and reporting that support finance and cross-functional decisions.
  • Lead a prioritised roadmap for improving end-to-end data flows and related processes across finance, purchasing, allocation and stock. Collaborate with technical colleagues on integrations and data-models, including bringing AI-supported automations into our workflows.
  • Requirements and skills

    Must-have skills and experience

  • Solid accounting experience, including owning the books for a whole entity, with a strong understanding of the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow. You take pride in reconciliations that tie out, and you always trace discrepancies back to their source.
  • Experience with the full finance cycle: month-end close, management reporting, annual accounts and working with auditors.
  • Advanced Excel modelling skills, practical SQL experience such as writing queries and joining datasets, and a good understanding of BI tools.
  • Experience with automating workflows, tasks or reporting, and using AI in practice. You’ve taken manual, complicated processes and made them faster, simpler or automatic.
  • Financial analysis skills and the ability to turn data and numbers into clear, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Professional English is required. Being able to read and understand Danish is preferred.
  • Nice-to-have

  • Solid knowledge of Danish accounting rules, VAT and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Experience from a smaller company, with hands-on internal finance ownership.
  • Knowledge of carbon credit and allowance allocation is a plus.
  • Experience and interest in climate, sustainability or carbon markets is highly valued.
  • Who you are

  • Reliable and trustworthy, with high integrity. You check your own work and make sure the underlying data and the reporting agree.
  • Self-driven and you follow through. You see tasks through to completion and ask for input along the way when you need it.
  • Energised by a blank page. You’re comfortable with ambiguity and enjoy building structure where there isn’t any yet.
  • Curious about the business. You want to understand why the numbers look the way they do, not just report them.
  • A clear communicator. You work well across teams, and you’re not afraid to hold others accountable. You have the judgement to know when to push back, and the pragmatism to find a way that works.
