We are looking for a dynamic and results-driven Engineering Manager to lead and mentor our tech team. In this role, you will define the technological and strategic direction of our platform, encompassing all products and business verticals. You will also spearhead our AI strategy, ensuring we remain at the forefront of innovation while driving execution and delivering measurable results. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the Head of Product and Head of Growth to align technology with the company’s overall strategy, ensuring seamless execution and long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Vision & Execution: Define and set the long-term technology strategy, including key KPIs and metrics. Create actionable roadmaps and drive the execution of strategies to meet organizational goals.
- Ownership & Decision Making: Take full ownership of strategic decisions and ensure their proper implementation. Make critical decisions that steer the team towards success, ensuring that everything runs smoothly.
- Problem Anticipation & Mitigation: Proactively identify potential roadblocks and anticipate challenges. Take swift action to prevent problems from hindering progress and ensure continuous delivery.
- Team Leadership & Motivation: Lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing engineering team. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Ensure clear communication and alignment on objectives and goals.
- Execution & Accountability: Drive results by translating strategies into tangible actions. Make sure the team stays focused, maintains momentum, and is accountable for their deliverables.
- Culture Fit: Preferably, the candidate should come from a startup culture, with a strong fintech background (experience in companies like dLocal, Prex, Pomelo, MercadoLibre, Pomelo, etc. is a plus).
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in engineering leadership (Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, Director of Engineering, or similar), with a track record of building and scaling technical teams in fast-paced environments.
- Proven experience in fintech or highly regulated industries is a strong advantage.
- Experience defining and executing technical and product strategies, setting KPIs, and measuring performance to drive business impact.
- Strong leadership and people management skills: capable of mentoring, growing, and structuring high-performing engineering teams.
- Ability to align technology with business goals, collaborating closely with Product, Growth, and other teams to ensure execution and long-term success.
- Strategic mindset with hands-on execution ability: able to balance high-level vision with technical decision-making and delivery.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a proactive approach to anticipating and mitigating challenges.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, ensuring clarity across technical and non-technical teams.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working in hypergrowth, Series A or Series B fintech startups.
- Hands-on experience with Python/Django and React (not a requirement, but a plus for understanding the tech stack).
- Knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure and DevOps best practices.
- Experience building Banking, Payments, Lending, or Credit products.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Exposure to AI/ML strategies and their implementation in financial services.
