The Role

We are searching for a seasoned Infrastructure/Backend Engineer proficient in managing cloud infrastructures and committed to upholding the highest security standards. This role is central to our operations, entailing the management of our entire backend infrastructure, from cloud services and server configuration to database management. Given the comprehensive access and significant responsibility this position entails, the ideal candidate will embody trust and reliability.

Responsibilities

Administer and optimise access to cloud providers such as Google Cloud, AWS, Mapbox, etc., ensuring efficient architecture and cost management.
Configure and manage servers using Ansible or similar tools (Puppet, Salt), adhering to best automation and configuration management practices.
Implement robust logging, monitoring, and alert systems, incorporating these mechanisms into our backend infrastructure to guarantee performance and reliability insights.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, focusing on enhancing deployment processes and facilitating a seamless development cycle.
Manage diverse database technologies (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, InfluxDB), oversee migrations and backups, and ensure high availability and data integrity.
Establish comprehensive backups and disaster recovery plans to safeguard data and ensure business continuity.
Lead deployment initiatives, employing automation to refine and accelerate our operational workflows.

Required Skills

Demonstrated expertise in Docker, Docker Compose, and configuration management tools like Ansible.
Proficiency with CI/CD (best case GitLab) and extensive experience managing databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, InfluxDB).
Strong knowledge of networking/VPN, proxies/load balancing, version control systems (VCS), and service-oriented architecture (SOA).
A meticulous and security-focused mindset, surpassing our standards for caution and diligence.
At least 5 years of proven experience in an Ops/DevOps capacity, showcasing effective problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Python Development.
Experience with Kubernetes (K8s) or similar container orchestration technologies for scalable, future-proof infrastructure management.
