Design Intern (Generalist)
OnArrival
Design
Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
This is not your typical “intern makes Instagram posts” role.
We’re looking for a design generalist who can move across product (UI/UX), visuals, brand, and AI-first experiences ; someone who can think, create, and ship. You’ll be working on everything from agentic apps and product flows to killer graphics and storytelling.
You’ll work directly with the leadership team, not buried under layers. Expect high ownership, fast iterations, and real impact.
CompensationIts quite above market standard.
Clear path to full-time conversion based on performance. Duration (3-4 months)
What you’ll actually doYou’ll design across surfaces:
- Product (UI/UX)
- Flows, onboarding, booking journeys, agentic interfaces, dashboards
- AI-first / Agentic apps
- Designing interactions where AI is not a feature, but the core experience
- Visual + Brand
- Social creatives, landing pages, campaigns, pitch decks, product storytelling
- Graphics that don’t look like Canva templates
- Think sharp, minimal, opinionated, high-quality
You won’t be given pixel-perfect instructions.
You’ll be given problems like:
“Make this flow feel premium”“This looks dead — bring it to life”“How should an AI-first travel experience even look?”And expected to figure it out.
AI is not optional hereWe expect you to maximize AI usage in everything you do.
- Generate concepts, variations, and references using tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, etc.
- Use AI for copy, layouts, UX thinking, visual exploration
- Build faster, iterate faster, think wider
If you’re not using AI to become 10x faster and sharper, this role will frustrate you.
- Good visual taste (this matters more than tools)
- Basic to solid Figma skills
- Understanding of layout, typography, hierarchy, spacing
- Ability to think in flows, not just screens
- Comfort with ambiguity
- Fast execution + willingness to iterate
You should be the kind of person who:
- Doesn’t wait for perfect briefs
- Comes back with 3 directions instead of 1
- Can explain why something works
Don’t just send a portfolio link. Show us how you think.
Pick any 1–2 of the below and send your output:
- Redesign a flight or hotel booking flow to feel more premium
- Create a landing page for an AI-first travel product
- Design a micro interaction or onboarding flow for an agentic app
- Create a visual campaign / poster for a travel product
- Take an existing app and make it look 10x better
We care more about thinking + taste + execution than polish.
Bonus (not mandatory)- Motion design / animations
- Illustration
- Basic frontend awareness
- Experience with tools like Framer, Webflow, etc.
- Ability to write clean, sharp copy
- You need step-by-step instructions for everything
- You’re uncomfortable using AI tools
- You only want to “make posts” and not think product
- You struggle with feedback or iteration
- You’ll work on real product, not dummy intern tasks
- You’ll help shape how AI-native travel apps look and feel
- You’ll work closely with founders and core team
- You’ll build a portfolio that actually stands out
