About us
Today, more than 56 million families are affected by life-limiting illnesses, and every day they pay the price of an overwhelmingly costly, neglected, inequitable, and inefficient care space. With the rapid aging of the world's population and the ever-growing resource constraints of the healthcare systems, moving towards digital care solutions is inevitable. And we happen to be there at the right place, right time, ready to disrupt and redefine palliative care.
At Pal, we are laying the groundwork to become the leading provider of digital palliative care in the home setting. We’re starting with an app that brings (chosen) families together to better care for their loved ones and manage their core fundamental needs - care planning, symptom monitoring, and up-skilling.
We are born out of Amsterdam, and just over a year old. So far, we’ve received funding and support from early-stage VC Antler, have built and released our product, and are currently testing our product with a closed group of users. We are now looking for committed, resourceful and purpose-driven people to join our team.
If you’re interested, intrigued, touched, curious, or in love already, carry on reading.
About you
You're an experienced mobile engineer and full-stack developer
You're looking to put your years of software development, and engineering leadership into building something of your own
You have a deep understanding of the need for a simple and intuitive user experience for our highly diverse user group
Valid European residency. Unfortunately (for us) at our current stage, we’re not able to provide sponsorships.
Instead of adding an nth optimisation layer on yet another B2B SaaS tool in an already saturated space, you’re looking to tackle a real problem, in a technologically overlooked and traditional space.
What you’ll do
As a founding team member and tech lead at Pal, you will have full technology ownership and get to lead the end-to-end product development. To be more specific …
We currently have the early version of our product live, so you will;
Work closely with Pal’s current CTO to define our product strategy and roadmap going forward.
Build on top of our current app and bring Pal’s vision to life. (Plan, build, test, deploy, iterate)
Set up our core technology infrastructure, code, and database structures. Our current tech stack is Flutter, C# .NET.
Collaborate with and manage a team of external developers.
Take ownership and accountability for the high-quality delivery of our product.
As we raise additional funding and grow, you will;
Actively hire new talent, build and scale the engineering team.
Define new engineering processes to accelerate our growth.
Build a healthcare dashboard and integrate it with healthcare provider systems.
What you’ll need
Must-have:
Empathy.
Experience working with and understanding Flutter, C# .NET.
Interest in the space we are innovating in and the problem we’re solving.
Experience as a professional software engineer and full-stack developer.
Deep understanding of the need for a simple and intuitive user experience for our highly diverse user group, and the ability to translate that into our product.
Experience managing and collaborating with in-house, remote, and external development teams.
A can-do and hands-on attitude. Not afraid of rolling up your sleeves to get the job done.
Good-to-have:
Deep appreciation and value for code quality.
Attention to detail, an eye for good design, and usability.
Flexible, solution-oriented, and entrepreneurial mindset.
Resilience. We may change directions from time to time, but our north star remains the same.
Really really nice-to-have:
Experience building and scaling consumer-facing products.
Experience building digital health products.
Experience and interest in building a product with the needs of multiple users and stakeholders in mind (care receivers, family caregivers, and healthcare teams).
Strong execution, product management, or leadership experience in fast-growing start-ups or scale-ups.
