Company Description

Paldo detects companies’ strategic moves before they become public. Our system continuously collects weak signals across companies, people, markets, and public sources, then connects them to identify strategic moves before they become obvious, giving our customers the opportunity to act earlier than their competitors.

We’re a rapidly growing startup. Since launching, we’ve grown to serve 40+ enterprise customers across the Nordics, spanning construction, legal, banking, technology, and more.

The Role

You will lead the research and engineering behind Paldo’s proprietary prediction layer. Today, our engine ingests market signals from thousands of sources and turns them into structured knowledge. Your job will be to connect these signals across companies, people, events, and time, and determine which patterns genuinely predict what companies are likely to do next.

This will involve building and evolving our temporal knowledge graph infrastructure, constructing historical datasets and outcomes, designing rigorous experiments, and testing whether new approaches actually improve prediction quality. You will work directly with the CTO to turn successful research into production systems used by real customers.

Our technical team is based in the UK, and this role will be UK-based, with occasional travel to Norway to work with the wider Paldo team.

Core Responsibilities

  • Own the research and engineering behind Paldo’s temporal prediction systems and the knowledge graph infrastructure that supports them.
  • Work with the CTO to test new approaches to prediction, evaluate what actually improves quality, and turn successful experiments into production systems.
  • Build systems that connect historical signals, entities, relationships, predictions, and outcomes across markets and over time.
  • Contribute across the wider product and engineering stack, including shipping new features, improving existing systems, and tackling ad hoc technical problems as they arise.
  • Help shape technical architecture as Paldo scales, balancing research ambition with the speed and pragmatism required in an early-stage startup.

What We’re Looking For

  • 4+ years of AI/ML industry experience, or equivalent depth through highly relevant academic research.
  • Strong understanding of model evaluation and experimental methodology, including backtesting, temporal train/test separation, baselines, calibration, etc.
  • Experience predicting rare or low-frequency events with imbalanced data (fraud, risk, churn, forecasting, or similar).
  • Experience with applied machine learning, data science, or predictive modelling.
  • Experience with knowledge graphs, graph databases, entity resolution, or related representations.
  • Experience working with temporal, event-based, or noisy real-world datasets.
  • Understanding of embeddings, semantic retrieval, and modern LLM systems.
  • Strong production engineering fundamentals and the ability to turn research into working systems.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous startup environments.

How You Operate

This role requires a high level of ownership and agency. Paldo is an early-stage startup, so problems are often ambiguous and there will not always be a predefined playbook. When you own a project, we expect you to define the path forward, make decisions, raise risks early, and drive it through to completion. In return, you’ll have real autonomy and the opportunity to shape a category-defining product.
