Content & Marketing Strategist
Marketing & Communications · Full-time
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
About us
The Woof Agency helps pet brands grow through social media, content, creator programs, and paid media. Pawjourr connects brands with pet creators for marketing and content collaborations.
Social media has been a core growth driver for our company, and we’ve seen strong content drive revenue for our clients.
We’re hiring someone to own our marketing and help develop content strategy for selected US pet brands.
About the role
This role has two areas of responsibility.
1. You’ll own social media, marketing and partnerships for The Woof Agency and Pawjourr.
- You’ll set priorities, develop and execute campaigns, champion our creators and build partnerships that help our business grow.
- You’ll take responsibility for moving ideas from a recommendation to something live, then assess what worked.
2. You’ll develop content strategy for selected US clients.
- You’ll work behind the scenes to research products and customers, develop concepts and write hooks, scripts and creator briefs.
- Our account managers will manage client communication and coordinate production with designers and editors.
You’ll report directly to our founder and CEO.
- We’re looking for someone who brings ideas we haven’t considered, challenges our thinking and helps us make better decisions.
- You should be able to teach us something, explain your recommendations and take ownership without waiting for detailed instructions.
What you’ll do
1. Own our social media and marketing
• Develop and manage the social strategy, content calendar and publishing for The Woof Agency and Pawjourr.
• Shape a clear, distinctive voice for each business.
• Create content that showcases our expertise, client work and creator community.
• Write posts, hooks, scripts and briefs, and coordinate the assets needed for our own channels.
• Plan and execute marketing campaigns that generate relevant brand enquiries and encourage creator participation.
• Turn customer questions, campaign findings and industry observations into useful content.
• Review performance and decide what to improve, repeat, test or stop.
2. Grow partnerships and champion our creators
• Identify brands, businesses and communities we could collaborate with.
• Develop partnership ideas with a clear benefit for both parties.
• Manage outreach, follow up and execution for agreed collaborations.
• Spotlight our creators and identify opportunities to increase their visibility and access to work.
• Track whether partnerships generate participation, enquiries or commercial opportunities.
3. Develop content strategy for selected US brands
• Research products, competitors, customer reviews and audience behaviour.
• Understand what makes a product different, who it appeals to and why someone would choose it.
• Develop audience profiles, content pillars, campaign concepts and repeatable social formats.
• Write clear hooks, scripts and creator briefs that production teams can use.
• Work with account managers to ensure the creative direction is understood and reflected in the content.
• Use available performance data to recommend what to improve and test next.
Who we’re looking for
1. You’re curious about products and people.
- You can look at two cans of dog wet food and investigate what actually makes them different.
- You want to understand the customer’s decision, beyond repeating what’s written on the packaging.
- You’re interested in how pet owners live and shop across different markets.
- You ask what might influence someone’s choices, research your assumptions and recognize when the evidence doesn’t support your first idea.
2. You have strong creative judgment.
You can explain why a piece of content works, whom it speaks to and what makes it distinctive. You understand how a brand’s point of view should shape its content, not just follow trends.
3. You write clearly.
You can write naturally in English and adapt your work for US audiences. You can turn a broad idea into a specific hook, script or brief that someone can execute.
4. You think independently.
You bring recommendations with reasons. You’re comfortable disagreeing thoughtfully, explaining trade-offs and changing your mind when you learn something new.
5. You follow through.
You organize your work, manage competing priorities, follow up consistently and raise problems early. You enjoy making ideas happen as much as coming up with them.
6. You understand the business behind the content.
You can connect your work to relevant inquiries, creator participation, partnership opportunities and other business outcomes. You look beyond follower counts when judging success.
7. You work well with others.
You respect the expertise of account managers, creators, designers and editors. Your briefs are clear, and you’re open to feedback that improves the work.
Experience and practical requirements
We don’t require a specific degree or a set number of years of experience. We do require evidence that you can think, create, and execute.
That evidence could come from employment, freelance work, your own social channels, a community initiative, a small business or a personal project.
You should:
• Have excellent written English and be comfortable explaining your ideas in English.
• Be able to research and create content for US audiences.
• Be comfortable using social publishing, analytics and everyday collaboration tools.
• Be available during 10am - 7pm SGT, with specified EST overlap, if required.
Experience in pets, social media, content or partnerships is useful. Pet ownership and prior US market experience are welcome, but neither is essential.
What success looks like
- Our social channels communicate a clear point of view, demonstrate our expertise and give brands a reason to work with us.
- Our marketing generates relevant inquiries and stronger participation from our creator community.
- Partnerships progress from conversations into useful collaborations with measurable results.
- Client content reflects a strong understanding of the product and audience, with distinctive ideas and clear briefs ready for production.
- You bring informed recommendations to the founder, deliver on agreed priorities and use results to guide your next decisions.
How to apply
Send us a Loom video of about 8-10 minutes covering the two questions below. Share your screen so we can see the products, posts, and sources you’re discussing. All applications without loom video will be rejected.
1. Compare two dog wet food products.
Use these specific US products:
• Hill’s Science Diet Adult Chicken & Barley Entrée canned dog food.
• Purina Pro Plan Complete Essentials Chicken & Rice Entrée Classic canned dog food.
Explain:
• If both brands are our clients, how will you create content for each of them?
• Describe the people who will buy Hill's vs. Purina. What is the key difference between them?
• How will you craft the narrative for each brand in a social media post? Bring me through your thought process.
2. Choose a brand doing great work on social media.
It doesn’t have to be a pet brand. Show us two or three posts and explain:
• What do you like about its content, and why?
• What is the brand’s point of view? What does it consistently stand for or have to say?
• What makes its content distinctive? Go beyond good visuals or following trends.
• What could The Woof Agency or Pawjourr learn from its approach, and how would you adapt that thinking for us?
A simple screen recording is enough. We care about your reasoning, not polished video production.
Include your source links and one or two examples of your own work. A resume is optional.
Upload a Word document (instead of your resume / CV) with the link to the Loom video.
