About the job:
As an Experimental Scientist at RespiQ you will be responsible for conducting experimental investigations in an industrial setting, designing, and contributing to the development of a revolutionary diagnostic medical device. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in spectroscopy and plasma physics. Your expertise and contributions will help advance the company's mission of revolutionizing respiratory healthcare.
Responsibilities:
1. Experimentation: Plan and execute experimental investigations using RespiQ’s patented invention for the detection of different volatile compounds in the breath. Interprete UV-Vis spectroscopy results and support the AI team.
2. Process improvement: Design, develop and optimize the measurement techniques and data acquisition.
3. Data analysis: Perform data analysis and interpretation of experimental results, utilizing statistical methods and scientific software tools. Knowledge of statistical techniques is a must.
4. Testing, validation, and documentation: Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans, including verification and validation activities, to ensure product performance, safety, and reliability. Prepare and maintain accurate and thorough documentation, including design documentation, technical files, test reports, and standard operating procedures.
5. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams. Effectively communicate project status, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders.
7. Literature review: Perform regular literature searches to broaden the knowledge of the company on plasma physics and spectroscopy.
Qualifications:
To be eligible for the job, you must meet the minimum qualifications. Optional qualifications or skills are desired but not required.
Minimum required skills and qualifications:
1. Education: Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Physics, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or any relevant study field.
2. Experience: Prior experience with analysis or development of spectroscopic techniques (Raman, AAS, ICP-MS, GC-MS, etc.)
3. Technical Skills: Solid understanding of plasma physics principles and phenomena, including plasma dynamics, ionization processes, and plasma-material interactions.
4. Collaboration: Strong teamwork and communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
5. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in design, documentation, and adherence to quality standards.
Preferred skills and qualifications (Optional):
1. (micro)Plasma and spectroscopy: Experience in plasma physics, optical systems (spectroscopy), plasma microreactors, microfluidics would be a great additional asset.
2. MEMS and micro manufacturing processes: Experience or knowledge on the MEMS fabrication process or nanoelectronics would be a great asset.
3. Machine Learning: Some proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, C# and experience with AI libraries/frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
Location:
- Hybrid: 60% on site.
- Leiden, The Netherlands
- Travelling abroad and within the Netherlands on rare occasions.
