About SellAbroad

SellAbroad is a cross-border payments and Merchant of Record (MoR) platform. We let e-commerce businesses sell into new markets without owning the payments, compliance, and routing complexity that sits behind checkout. In practice that means we integrate with multiple acquirers and payment service providers, run the orchestration layer that decides where each transaction is routed, and operate the checkout and tokenization stack in front of it.

We're headquartered in Dubai with entities in Singapore, the US, and the Gulf, and we work as a distributed team.

What you'll do

  • Build and maintain backend modules and workflows in our MedusaJS-based order management system.

  • Write integration code against third-party APIs — payment providers (Stripe, Tabby, Tamara, Paymob), payout rails (Wise), and storefront APIs (Shopify, WooCommerce) — including the unglamorous-but-critical parts: webhooks, retries, and idempotency.

  • Build and maintain event-driven workers and background jobs (Redis + SQS) for things like reconciliation and notifications.

  • Help build internal tooling and dashboards for monitoring transactions, payouts, and merchant activity.

  • Write tests (Vitest), take part in code review, and ship to production with supervision.

What we're looking for

  • 2+ years of backend experience with TypeScript on Node.js.

  • Comfort with REST APIs, JSON, and relational databases (PostgreSQL).

  • A working understanding of HTTP, asynchronous processing, and event/webhook-driven flows.

  • Professional English; we operate across time zones and most written work is in English.

  • Based in LATAM and able to work EST business hours.

Nice to have

  • Experience with MedusaJS, or another commerce/OMS framework.

  • Familiarity with AWS (ECS/Fargate, RDS, SQS) and Docker.

  • Schema validation with Zod, and ORM work (MikroORM or similar).

  • Any exposure to payments, fintech, or PCI/compliance concepts.

What you get

  • Direct ownership of real production systems early — this is a small team, not a place where junior engineers babysit one ticket for a month.

  • Mentorship from engineers who've built payments infrastructure across multiple markets.

  • Exposure to the full payments stack: orchestration, acquiring, tokenization, settlement.
