Senior Systems Engineer will focus on building various storage abstraction layers and integrations of simplyblock’s distributed storage system into databases and other applications.

What are the tasks?

• Prototyping of file and object storage solutions based on pNFS, S3 api and other components
• Development of automation for file and object storage solution deployments
• Optimizing storage systems for performance, including knowledge of caching strategies, load balancing, and data sharding.
• Performance monitoring and storage systems tuning to handle large-scale, high-traffic environments.

Interesting problems you will work on

• Building multi-tier and multi-interface storage system based on the newest sets of technology
• Optimizing file & object storage interfaces for low-latency access to block storage layer

What’s required?

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• System Programming with Python and Bash
• Linux System Administration (including Linux lvm)
• Understanding of block and object storage
• Familiarity with network-attached storage (NAS) and storage area network (SAN) solutions
• Strong understanding of network protocols like NFS, SMB, and iSCSI used for file sharing across networks.
• Experience with network file systems and distributed storage solutions in a cloud or on-premises environment.
• Knowledge of data redundancy, replication, and distributed storage for scalability.
• Some Expertise in data deduplication, compression, and backup technologies.
• Understanding of data consistency models, data integrity, and error recovery mechanisms.
• Familiarity with RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) configurations and their trade-offs.
• Familiarity with data warehousing and data lakes.
