🚀 3D Scanning Technician (Building Capture & Defects Focus) – InsurTech Scale-Up

We help insurers, builders, and adjusters make faster, clearer, and more defensible decisions through digital twins, remote inspections, and visual-first workflows. As we scale nationally, we’re building Australia’s most assessment-grade property capture engine, and this role is critical to that mission.

The Role

We’re looking for a capable 3D Scanning Technician who does more than just scan a space.

This role combines:

• 3D reality capture
• Building & damage knowledge
• Insurance loss awareness
• Capture standardisation

You’ll deliver high-quality digital twins across residential and commercial properties, ensuring every scan clearly documents the origin, extent, and indicators of damage.

Your work directly impacts claim outcomes, reporting accuracy, and building a company-wide knowledgebase.

🎯 Mission

To deliver consistent, assessment-grade digital twins and continuously improve our scanning “flight paths”, ensuring the right detail is captured for every building type and loss cause.

What You’ll Be Doing

You won’t just capture spaces — you will understand what matters.

On-Site Capture

• Capture residential and commercial properties using 3D scanning technology
• Plan and execute structured scan paths
• Ensure full coverage of structural elements, damaged areas, moisture zones, and external envelope (where accessible)

Damage Data Capture

• Identify and document common defects and damage indicators
• Understand and incorporate fellow experts assessments
• Highlight different damage information for external assessment

Standardisation & Quality

• Help build and refine scanning “flight paths” by loss cause
• Maintain high internal quality standards (coverage, labelling, organisation)
• Provide structured feedback to Ops, Product, and Tech teams

Who We’re Looking For

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

• Understand how buildings are constructed (framing, linings, roofing, waterproofing)
• Can distinguish superficial defects from claim-relevant damage
• Have hands-on 3D scanning experience (Matterport preferred)
• Are systematic, detail-oriented, and calm and respectful on-site
• Care about data quality because downstream decisions rely on it
• Can work independently, manage calendar and site travel

Highly regarded backgrounds include:

• Building inspection, insurance claims, restoration (water/fire/mould), trade experience, or surveying/reality capture with strong building knowledge.

• Few re-scans and missing detail
• Clear, standardised capture playbooks by loss cause and damage type
• Outputs of your data capture result in measurable improvements in damage reporting
