About WeatherMind
WeatherMind helps accelerate insurance pay-out following natural disasters, so that victims can rebuild their lives faster.
Our AI-powered solution scans all climate claims notified to the insurer. Then, depending on the severity of the claim, we would either process it end-to-end (up to 70% of total volumes) or we would flag it for a prioritised human intervention.
Our initial focus is drought-induced damages (also called soil subsidence in the UK) but we plan to quickly expand to other perils: hail, storm, flood, …

Position Overview
As the Deep Learning Engineer at WeatherMind, you will play a central role in guiding and leading our deep learning projects. You will be responsible for project planning, scoping, and driving initiatives from inception to productionization.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams and staying up-to-date with the latest developments in deep learning models are essential aspects of this role.
Responsibilities
Suggest, design and implement innovative approaches to solve our different use cases leveraging state-of-the-art Computer Vision models (ViT, multi-modal LLMs).
Implement workflows and end-to-end pipelines, overseeing data preparation, training and evaluation.
Work closely with the Software Engineering team and the CTO to deploy and integrate our different models in our product.
Keep an eye on the whole life of AI models, making sure they work well in production, tweaking them as needed, and fixing any issues that pop up for smooth sailing.
Effectively communicate results internally (written and oral) in a clear and concise manner, ensuring transparency and understanding to all stakeholders.
Take the lead by suggesting new and creative improvements to our solutions, questioning the way things are done, and proposing practical alternatives.
Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in Deep Learning and Computer Vision.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
A PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
At least 2-3 years of experience (exclu. internships) in the field of Computer Vision/NLP/Deep Learning.
Thorough understanding of state-of-the-art Deep Learning algorithms (e.g. self-attention, Transformers, LLMs etc…).
Proven expertise in handling Deep-Learning projects end-to-end.
Strong proficiency in Python.
Experience with Docker and the cloud environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrable experience in working with LLMs and particularly multi-modal LLMs.
Familiar with model serving & productionization.
Strong project planning and autonomy, with the ability to lead projects from inception to productionization.
