xWatts is an energy management software company that helps commercial and industrial facilities reduce their energy costs and carbon emissions by up to 40%. We connect directly to a building’s BMS or local control systems for HVAC, lighting, energy generation and battery storage assets and evaluate energy market data, environmental conditions and operational constraints to replace manual optimisation with predictive control and automation. We have just closed our $1.8m pre-seed round backed by Antler, University of Cambridge Enterprise, Parkwalk Advisors, R42, Cambridge Angels and a host of industry expert angels.
What the job involves:
xWatts is looking for a Smart Buildings Project Engineer to join our growing delivery team. This is an excellent position for a person looking to join a VC-backed startup helping commercial building owners reduce their energy costs and carbon emissions.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Conduct technical surveys to identify areas to reduce and optimise energy usage in commercial buildings and industrial facilities
Work with our control systems engineers to manage the delivery of integrating the xWatts platform to client buildings
Provide ongoing support to clients to optimise energy usage and control strategies
Contribute to pre-sales activity involved in onboarding new clients
Requirements:
Must have strong tangible evidence that you have:
Extensive (5+ years) experience operating a Project Engineer on BMS & control systems projects with technical understanding of Siemens, Trend or Tridium systems.
Strong knowledge of HVAC plant and control optimisation strategies
Technical electrical, mechanical, and utilities infrastructure knowledge
Proven track record of successful project engineering, to delivering and manage against objectives, quality and budget.
Excellent communication skills and report writing are essential to maintain strong relationships with all team member and customers.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience
Due to continuous travel to sites, a driving licence is required.

What we are offering:
Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 (depending on experience)
Holiday: 28 days
Options: competitive
Flexible working: we operate on a hybrid basis (remote first with office spaces in Cambridge. We aim to meet at least once a week in person)
